POLIJE HOLDS DISCUSSION SESSION WITH MSU MALAYSIA TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR OATH-TAKING AND STUDENT ORIENTATION AS WELL AS ACCEPTANCE OF NEW STUDENTS FOR MSU JOINT DEGREE PROGRAM IN 2024

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held a discussion session with representatives from Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia on Wednesday (8/11). This discussion session was held by the MoU between Polije and MSU to conduct a student joint degree, in which Polije sends its students to attend lectures at MSU Malaysia.

This year, Polije sent 16 students who were accompanied by one lecturer. Later, they will depart from 6 to 10 December 2023 to take part in student orientation (oath taking).

The arrival of MSU Malaysia was represented by Mr Ahmad Pitra who is also the Indonesian Regional Office Manager, Global Affairs, MSU. In his remarks, Mr Ahmad Pitra, who is familiarly called Pitra, also explained how Polije students will carry out activities at MSU. According to Pitra, it is very important to have a discussion session before Polije’s students are dispatched to MSU.

“Indeed, it cannot be underestimated what has been prepared by the team from Polije and also MSU, I hope students can follow the course of activities at MSU later. In addition, please note that we are very welcome to the arrival of Polije students at MSU,” said Pitra.

Pitra hoped that, Polije students will prepare themselves to carry out activities at MSU. So that later they will get valuable experience when they return to MSU Malaysia. In addition, it should also be noted, before leaving for MSU, Polije students need to improve their English skills. Because at MSU all teaching and learning activities use English.

Vice Director for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Polije, Agung Wahyono, SP., M.SI., Ph.D. said that Polije has had a long cooperation since 2018 with MSU Malaysia.

“This year is the fifth batch of student joint degree cooperation program between Polije and MSU. Especially for the Informatics Engineering Study Program, the enthusiasm of students to take part in this program is quite high,” explained Agung Wahyono, SP, M.SI, Ph.D.

There are many benefits that students get when participating in the student joint degree program, such as in previous batches that have the advantage of being able to work at MSU. Every year MSU also provides scholarships to students who want to continue in the fast-track program at the master’s degree level.

“This is a good opportunity for Polije students to have the opportunity to continue their studies later at MSU,” concluded the Vice Director for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems. (hnf/ang/vig)
