JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) is strengthening students’ career readiness through its collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The partnership was implemented through the Shape Your Future program on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The program equips students with essential knowledge and skills to support their transition from higher education to the workplace. It focuses on developing both technical competencies and professional skills.

The session, titled Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Workplace Culture, and Problem-Solving Skills, featured Rizqi Magdawati Nur Izzizti as a representative and speaker from UNDP.

The OHS materials covered workplace safety procedures, hazard identification, and safe working practices. Through these topics, students learned to recognize potential risks and understand how to maintain safety in professional environments.

The program also introduced key aspects of workplace culture, including effective communication, teamwork, mutual respect, discipline, and responsibility. In addition, students learned how to identify problems, analyze situations, consider possible solutions, and make informed decisions.

These competencies highlight that career readiness goes beyond academic knowledge and technical expertise. Adaptability, critical thinking, communication, and a willingness to keep learning are equally important for navigating professional challenges.

The collaboration reflects POLIJE and UNDP’s shared commitment to improving students’ employability. It also supports vocational education in preparing graduates to meet industry requirements and respond to changes in the labor market.

Through Shape Your Future, POLIJE continues to connect academic learning with professional workplace needs. The program is expected to help students enter the workforce with stronger competencies, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to adapt.
