JEMBER – Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) is strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration to promote sustainable development in the Argopuro Slopes region. The Modern Development Collaboration Model integrates seven springs, seven villages, and one region into a connected development ecosystem.
The event was attended by Agung Wahyono, Ph.D., Vice Director IV for Cooperation at POLIJE, alongside the Cooperation Team and Community Service Village Development Team. The discussion focused on aligning the roles of each stakeholder to deliver tangible benefits for local communities.
The collaboration model follows three development stages: Triple Helix, Quadruple Helix, and Penta Helix. The first stage brings together universities, communities, and village governments. Next, Quadruple Helix adds business actors, while Penta Helix incorporates the media.
Each stakeholder has a strategic role. Universities contribute research and innovation, village governments strengthen policies, and communities protect local culture and the environment. Meanwhile, businesses support investment and MSME development, while the media promotes public awareness and education.
The collaboration targets several outcomes, including the Sustainable Sumber Tunjung Festival, village tourism development, spring conservation, local economic growth, and research-based innovation. It also aims to preserve local wisdom as a foundation for sustainable development.
Agung Wahyono emphasized that collaboration is essential to building sustainable development that prioritizes local potential.
“Collaboration is the key to achieving sustainable development that builds on local strengths and potential,” he said.
He also highlighted POLIJE’s commitment to supporting communities through long-term partnerships rather than short-term activities.
“POLIJE does not want to be an institution that simply comes and goes. Instead, we aim to become a long-term partner, supporting villages through research, innovation, and capacity building,” he explained.
He further stressed the importance of involving various stakeholders in developing village potential.
“Multi-stakeholder collaboration is essential to ensure that each village’s potential can be developed in a structured and measurable way,” he added.
Furthermore, the POLIJE Cooperation Team and Community Service Village Development Team discussed follow-up plans, including developing village flagship products, strengthening MSMEs, and expanding partnerships with businesses and media organizations. Through the Penta Helix model, POLIJE and its partners aim to build a more prosperous, productive, and sustainable Argopuro region.
