POLIJE WELCOMES TWO NEW PROFESSORS IN ACADEMIC MILESTONE

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has once again marked a significant milestone in its academic journey. During the Open Senate Meeting held at GOR Perjuangan 45 on Monday (April 28), Polije’s Director, Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., officially inaugurated two new professors: Prof. Dr. Ir. Bayu Rudianto, S.T., M.Si., in the field of Energy Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Muksin, S.P., M.Si., in the field of Community Empowerment.

Prof. Bayu Rudianto gained special attention as he not only became the first professor from the Engineering Department but also the youngest professor ever appointed at Polije. In his inaugural speech titled “Second Law of Thermodynamics Analysis and Optimization of Single-Flash Steam Cycle Geothermal Power Plants”, Prof. Bayu highlighted the importance of energy and exergy analysis to improve geothermal power plant efficiency.

“This subject is rarely discussed. People talk a lot about energy, but seldom explore why energy quality declines,” he remarked. He emphasized that understanding irreversibilities in energy systems is crucial for the future development of energy technologies.

According to Prof. Bayu, the journey to becoming a professor was far from easy. He shared his three keys to success: perseverance, tenacity, and consistency.

“Obstacles will always exist, but the important thing is to turn them into challenges that can be overcome,” he said passionately.

Meanwhile, Prof. Muksin, in his scientific speech titled “Community Empowerment: Evolution of Concepts and Strategies to Institutionalize the Growth of Empowerment among Marginal Rural Groups”, stressed the importance of building strong social structures. He explained how the concept of empowerment has evolved from physical development to a people-centered approach focusing on human and community capacity-building.

“Empowerment strategies must be based on local potential and be participatory in nature. This is key to facing increasingly complex global and local challenges,” he explained.

Polije’s Director expressed his pride in this achievement, stating that the presence of professors is a vital indicator in enhancing the quality of vocational higher education.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the two newly inaugurated professors. Their presence strengthens Polije’s position both nationally and internationally,” he stated.

Currently, Polije has five professors and aims to appoint three more within this year. In addition, the institution is preparing to launch an applied doctoral (S3) program to broaden its academic contributions in advanced vocational education.

With the addition of these two new professors, Polije is optimistic about strengthening its culture of research, innovation, and partnerships with industry and society to meet the evolving demands of the times. (rda)
