The first day of the Student Mobility Program at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia marked a memorable start for ten students from the Department of Language, Communication, and Tourism at Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE). The students received a warm welcome from UiTM Cawangan Melaka, reflecting the strong spirit of academic partnership and cultural exchange between the two institutions.
The day began with an official opening ceremony led by the Rector of UiTM Melaka, held at the BMU, KPP1 building. In his address, the Rector extended his appreciation for the continued collaboration and emphasized the value of international academic mobility in developing future-ready graduates. Following the ceremony, the students were guided on a comprehensive tour of the Kampus Alor Gajah (KAG), where they had the opportunity to visit key academic facilities, student centers, and communal spaces that will support their learning during the program.
In the afternoon, participants took part in a classroom session at LG120, where they engaged in academic discussions and interactive learning activities designed to enhance their cross-cultural communication skills and academic insights. This session marked the beginning of a series of educational engagements aimed at deepening their understanding of communication and tourism within a global context.
Outside the academic setting, the students also enjoyed social and cultural interactions during mealtimes and informal activities, further strengthening connections with their UiTM counterparts. The relaxed evening at the guesthouse provided time for reflection and preparation for the upcoming days of the program.
This opening day not only introduced the students to the academic culture and environment of UiTM, but also laid a strong foundation for cross-border collaboration, intercultural appreciation, and international networking—key goals of the student mobility initiative that runs through May 8, 2025.
