Polije Introduces Digital Accounting and Automation to Empower MSMEs in Nganjuk

A community service team from Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has launched an integrated digital bookkeeping system powered by a web platform and Telegram chatbot to support transparency and efficiency for the onion chips MSME “Mak Yem Berkah Sejati” in Kedunggulun Hamlet, Gondang District.

In addition to financial digitalization, the team introduced an automatic shallot slicer machine, doubling production capacity from 50 kg/hour to 100 kg/hour. This innovation directly addresses two critical challenges faced by MSMEs: manual bookkeeping and labor-intensive traditional slicing methods.

Project leader Qonitatul Hasanah, S.ST., M.Tr.T., expressed pride in contributing to the program.

“Onion chip MSMEs in Nganjuk have huge potential but are constrained by manual financial records and production bottlenecks. Our solution combines a web-based bookkeeping system, a Telegram chatbot, and automated slicing technology to improve efficiency,” she explained.

Her colleague Suwinda Febriani, S.P., M.Biotek., emphasized that this step marks the beginning of a broader transformation.

“We hope these innovations will not only enhance productivity and transparency but also prepare MSMEs to compete in the digital economy,” she said.

Beyond production and accounting, the team also assisted in modern packaging design to strengthen market appeal and open access to digital platforms and e-commerce. Supported by BIMA Kemdiksaintek and Polije, the initiative highlights how digital tools and automation can accelerate MSME growth in Indonesia and serve as a replicable model for rural entrepreneurship across Southeast Asia.
