Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije), through its Department of Agribusiness Management, successfully held the International Seminar and Talk Show on Agribusiness with the theme “Tropical Agribusiness: Navigating Global Market Trends and Local Realities”. The event took place on Thursday (September 4, 2025) as part of the AGRIEKSHO 2025 series and commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Agribusiness Management Department.
Polije Director, Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., emphasized that the international agenda aligns with the institution’s long-term vision.
“Through this international seminar, Polije seeks to create a global discussion platform for lecturers, students, and practitioners. Tropical agribusiness has tremendous potential, and we must understand global market trends without neglecting local realities. Our goal is to position Polije as a hub of innovation and a real contributor to Indonesia’s agricultural development,” he stated.
The seminar featured three international experts: Prince Baah Annor, Ph.D., from Lincoln University, New Zealand; Aliza Abu Hassim, Ph.D., from Management and Science University, Malaysia; and Eka Tarwaca Susila Putra, Ph.D., from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia.
These speakers shared insights on the opportunities and challenges of tropical agribusiness, focusing on how to navigate global market dynamics while safeguarding local wisdom and food security.
Held in a hybrid format at Polije’s Vocational Auditorium and via Zoom, the seminar gathered hundreds of participants from universities across Indonesia and abroad. The interactive discussions provided a valuable platform to strengthen research networks and enhance the global positioning of tropical agribusiness.
The event also marked a special milestone—the 25th anniversary of the Agribusiness Management Department. This journey highlights Polije’s commitment to producing competent, innovative, and globally competitive graduates in the field of agribusiness.
