POLIJE HOLDS INFORMATIONS AND SHARING SESSION OF THE YOUNG SOUTHEAST ASIAN LEADERS INITIATIVE (YSEALI) ACADEMIC FELLOWS PROGRAM

The Language Academic Support Unit (UPA) of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held an activity entitled Info and Sharing Session of The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellows Program. This activity took place at the Polije Vocational Auditorium on September 26, 2024, in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya.

The event was opened with an information session led by Surateno, S.Kom., M.Kom., as Vice Director of Academic Affairs at Polije. In his speech, Surateno explained the importance of the YSEALI program for student leadership development in the Southeast Asia region.

“We hope this activity can provide insight and opportunities for students to participate in international programs,” he said.

The event was attended by various parties, including the Coordinator of the Study Program (Prodi), the Cooperation Unit, representatives of the Department Student Association (HMJ), and students from each study program. This shows the high enthusiasm of the Polije academic community for the opportunities offered by this program.

After the information session, the activity continued with an experience sharing session attended by various officials at Polije, including the Director of Polije, Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., and Deputy Director for Student Affairs as well as representatives from the U.S. Consulate General. In this sharing session, participants received in-depth information about the YSEALI program aimed at facilitating the development of young leaders in Southeast Asia.

Renata Kenanga Rinda, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the head of the event committee, explained that the speakers were Kayla M. Smith, Deputy Public Affairs Officer from the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, and Puguh B. Susetyo, Public Engagement Coordinator. They shared important information about the opportunities offered by YSEALI, including scholarships to study in the United States.

“The main purpose of this activity is to socialize the YSEALI program to Polije students, so that more people know and have the opportunity to join this program,” said Renata.

Renata also hopes that there will be Polije students who succeed in getting YSEALI scholarships and gain valuable experience abroad.

“The YSEALI program aims to improve Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 2, which is related to students gaining experience outside the campus. We are optimistic that with this program, Polije students will be better prepared to face global challenges,” Renata explained.

This activity received a positive response from the participants, who showed high interest in participating in the international program. Hopefully, through this initiative, Polije can continue to contribute to the development of young leaders in Southeast Asia and strengthen international networks for students. (rda)
