Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) successfully held the 7th National Conference for Community Service (NaCosVi) at the Fortuna Grande Hotel on Saturday (11/16). Carrying the theme “Innovation and Technology for Strengthening Community Capacity in Sustainable Natural Resource Management,” this activity is part of a series of events to commemorate Polije’s 36th Anniversary.
This year, NaCosVi presented keynote speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Aristi Dian Purnama Fitri, S.Pi., M.Si., from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, and Dr. dr. Rustamadji, M.Kes., from the Directorate of Community Service (DPKM) Gadjah Mada University.
The conference was officially opened by Polije’s Deputy Director for Finance and General Affairs, Dr. Yossi Wibisono, S.TP., M.P. In his speech, Yossi emphasized the importance of NaCosVi as a forum for discussion and collaboration to address the challenges of natural resource management in Indonesia.
“NaCosVi is Polije’s annual agenda. This year, the theme we raised reflects Polije’s commitment to sustainability and our strategic role in supporting better natural resource management. This is also an important step for Polije in establishing its position as a vocational education institution towards a world-class university,” said Yossi.
Dr. Yossi explained that sustainability is one of the main parameters in Polije’s development. One of the main focuses of this year’s NaCosVi is waste management and community empowerment.
“We want to ensure that Polije can play a strategic role in helping the government, industry, and the wider community to address national challenges, including in waste management and strengthening community capacity,” he added.
He also emphasized the importance of downstreaming innovation from universities to the community so that it can be utilized by the community in a real way.
“We hope that the synergy between the government, Polije, and the community can provide a real positive impact, answer various national problems, and encourage sustainable growth,” he explained.
As part of this activity, Polije also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in the field of community service. This collaboration aims to strengthen the synergy between universities in empowering the community and developing innovative solutions in natural resource management.
“This collaboration with UGM is a strategic step to expand the scope of community service carried out by Polije. With this synergy, we hope to create more impactful programs, both at the local and national levels,” said Yossi.
NaCosVi is real evidence of Polije’s commitment to combining innovation and technology to answer the challenges of sustainability. With collaboration involving various parties, including higher education institutions and the government, Polije continues to strive to expand its role in answering the needs of the community and supporting sustainable development.
“Through this activity, Polije not only strengthens its position as a superior vocational education institution, but also shows a real contribution in supporting sustainable natural resource management in Indonesia,” he concluded (rda)
