Polije and Noveltindo Collaborate on Eco-Friendly Reuse Plastics for Silage Production

Jember State Polytechnic (Polije) has established a strategic collaboration with PT. Noveltindo Berkah Mandiri to develop reuse plastics as environmentally friendly fermentors for silage products. This initiative, funded by the 2025 Matching Fund Program, engages a multidisciplinary team of Polije lecturers to improve feed production efficiency and sustainability in Indonesia’s livestock sector.

Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani, S.Pt., M.Si., project leader from Polije, explained that the program began with coordination meetings, simulation, and modeling of reuse plastics at PT. Noveltindo’s headquarters.

“The goal is to align the dimensions of our reuse plastic design with the silage raw materials used by PT. Noveltindo. Once the compatibility is achieved, the design will be integrated into the Ausim-GE automatic silage pressing machine,” she stated.

The Polije research team includes Dr. Budi Utomo, S.Pt., M.P.; Dr. Niswatin Hasanah, S.Pt., M.P.; Dimas Triardianto, S.T., M.Sc.; M. Adhyatma, S.Pt., M.Si.; and Satria Budi Kusuma, S.Pt., M.Sc. Their focus is on strengthening the research of reuse plastics through durability testing, volume optimization, and raw material suitability analysis.

From the industry side, Arim Suhaerim, Director of PT. Noveltindo Berkah Mandiri, underlined the strategic value of this collaboration.

“This coordination is a positive step for our company. One of our biggest challenges has been silage spoilage due to mold growth at the surface. By applying reuse plastics with an automatic vacuum system, we can prevent contamination and improve efficiency in distribution,” he remarked.

The partnership between Polije and Noveltindo reflects a growing commitment to sustainability-driven innovation in agribusiness. Beyond addressing production challenges, this program is expected to deliver eco-friendly solutions in livestock feed technology, while promoting reuse practices that align with global sustainability standards and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
