POLIJE AND MSU ENHANCE RESEARCH COLLABORATION IN ENGINEERING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

A research coordination meeting was held between the Department of Engineering and Information Technology of Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) and the Faculty of Information Science and Engineering from Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. The session marked a crucial step in strengthening international academic cooperation.

The event brought together lecturers, researchers, and university officials from both institutions to explore new opportunities for collaborative research and academic exchange. The discussions focused on building a stronger partnership in engineering and information technology fields.

Among the key outcomes was a shared interest in initiating research collaborations through various programs such as researcher colloquiums, joint research agreements, and co-organization of international conferences and exhibitions. These activities are expected to foster knowledge exchange and innovation.

Both POLIJE and MSU emphasized the importance of co-publications. Collaborative research outputs are intended to be published in reputable international journals, allowing both institutions to expand their global academic presence.

Another major topic discussed was funding and cost-sharing arrangements. Dr. Wendy Thiagi from MSU, along with representatives from POLIJE’s engineering and IT departments, deliberated on strategies to support joint research financially, including the possibility of applying for international research grants.

The institutions also discussed the implementation of a Global Internship Program for students. This program will provide POLIJE and MSU students with hands-on international experience, helping them enhance their practical skills and contribute to ongoing research projects.

Furthermore, the idea of establishing joint degree programs in engineering and information technology was well received. Such initiatives are expected to provide students with internationally recognized qualifications and foster academic mobility between Indonesia and Malaysia.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing strong commitment to follow up on the proposed initiatives. This collaboration is set to pave the way for long-term academic partnerships and impactful research outcomes in engineering and technology. (rda)
