Jember State Polytechnic Holds The Sixth Conference of Applied Animal Sciences (CAAS 2025)

The Department of Animal Science, Jember State Polytechnic (Polije), successfully organized The Sixth Conference of Applied Animal Sciences (CAAS 2025), held on September 25–26, 2025. The event also marked the 37th Anniversary of Polije’s Department of Animal Science.

In his opening remarks, Polije Director Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., extended his appreciation to the academic leaders, lecturers, students, and invited guests from both domestic and international institutions. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee for their dedication and hard work in preparing the event.

“Today, we have around 481 participants, consisting of lecturers, researchers, practitioners, and students. This conference demonstrates the continuity of an academic tradition that has been sustained for the past six years and continues to grow. The chosen theme is highly relevant to the challenges of national food security,” he stated.

According to Saiful, food security is not only about availability but also encompasses environmental sustainability, the welfare of farmers and livestock breeders, and the application of advanced technology. Polije remains committed to promoting research, innovation, and partnerships with business and industry sectors—particularly in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of CAAS 2025, Ir. Agus Hadi Prayitno, S.Pt., M.Sc., reported that this year’s conference was attended by 481 participants from 20 institutions across four countries, featuring a total of 34 scientific papers presented in both Indonesian and English.

“The theme ‘Sustainable Ability-Based Meat and Animal Science for National Food Resilience’ is highly relevant to the issue of food security. We hope this forum will continue to evolve into a fully international conference and make a tangible contribution to the development of Indonesia’s agricultural and livestock sectors,” he said.

The conference featured keynote speakers from both domestic and international institutions, including Dr. Derico Setyobrat, Ph.D. (University of Arkansas, USA), Dr. drh. Agung Suganda, M.Si. (Agricultural Instrument Standardization Agency, Ministry of Agriculture), Moh. Nur Ali Muslim, S.Pt., M.Si. (industry practitioner), and Dr. Ir. Hariadi Subagja, S.Pt., M.P., IPM. (Polije).

Through this academic forum, Polije hopes to foster strategic ideas and collaborative networks that support the creation of inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-based national food security.
