Jember State Polytechnic (Polije) has empowered local beverage enterprise UMKM Sopo Nyongko through a comprehensive community service program focusing on business management, technology implementation, and digital marketing strategies. The initiative strengthens the small business’s competitiveness while providing practical learning opportunities for vocational students.
Team leader Dr. Ardhitya Alam Wiguna emphasized the program’s holistic approach, “We’re not only assisting production aspects but also equipping entrepreneurs with financial management skills and digital marketing capabilities for sustainable business growth.”
The training includes simplified bookkeeping systems that enable real-time profit tracking and better business planning.
Owner Fafan Yuniarto confirmed the program’s immediate impact, “Since the training began, our revenue has gradually increased, and we now better understand how to manage finances wisely.”
The Polije team also provided a cup sealer machine that significantly improved production efficiency and resolved previous distribution challenges with spillage during delivery.
The digital marketing component established the business’s presence on major food delivery platforms including GoFood, ShopeeFood, and GrabFood, while introducing Google advertising strategies to reach broader markets.
This integrated approach demonstrates how vocational institutions can directly contribute to local economic development through technology transfer and capacity building, creating a replicable model for small business empowerment in developing regions.
