The International Office of Politeknik Negeri Jember held a prestigious guest lecture featuring Dr. Norabaiyah Binti Yacob from Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. The event, which took place at the Vokasi Auditorium, was attended by around 100 students from the D3 Agroindustrial Management and D4 Agribusiness Management programs.

Dr. Norabaiyah, a highly respected academic in the field of quality management, delivered a comprehensive lecture on Total Quality Management (TQM). Her presentation explored key concepts such as customer focus, process approach, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making — all essential components in enhancing organizational quality and performance.

Throughout the session, Dr. Norabaiyah emphasized the relevance of TQM in today’s competitive business landscape, particularly in the agroindustry and agribusiness sectors. She highlighted real-world examples of how TQM has transformed business operations, improved customer satisfaction, and strengthened organizational sustainability.

The students actively engaged in the discussion, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity. Their participation reflected their strong interest in learning how global management concepts can be applied in the Indonesian agricultural context. Many students also took the opportunity to ask insightful questions during the Q&A session, making the atmosphere both interactive and dynamic.

This guest lecture is part of Polije’s ongoing effort to enhance international academic exposure and bring global insights directly to its students. By connecting with international experts, Polije aims to broaden students’ perspectives and better prepare them for future careers in global agribusiness and industry.

In his remarks, Agung Wahyono, Ph.D., Vice Director for Collaboration Affairs at Polije, welcomed the renewed academic interaction with MSU. “After being postponed for two years, the international classes between MSU and Polije’s Agroindustrial Management (MNA) program will resume this year. This marks an important step forward in strengthening our collaboration through the Joint Degree program,” he stated.

Dr. Norabaiyah expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and vibrant academic environment at Polije. “It is always a pleasure to speak to students who are eager to learn and innovate. I believe that the future of quality management lies in the hands of passionate young leaders like those I met today,” she said in her closing remarks. The event concluded with a group photo session and a token of appreciation presented by the International Office. (rda)
