Politeknik Negeri Jember is a higher education focuses on vocational education. Its education program offers courses, training and specified competency standard, specialized knowledge, skills and also courses deals with enterpreneural spirit courses to meet the qualifications of specific professions or occupations needed by stakeholder.

In addition, Politeknik Negeri Jember actively performs three program known as the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education): education, community service and research.

Education. Politeknik Negeri Jember Jember focuses on vocational education in the field of Agribusiness/Agroindustry, D3 (Diploma III) Program will have a graduation entitled as Ahli Madya (A.Md) known as associate’s degree. It provides more practicum class (60%) than lecturing class (40%) for three years. So, the graduates of Politeknik Negeri Jember will have entrepreneurial spirit, specialized knowledge, English skills and computer skills that they are able to compete in their environment, at local, national and international levels.

Research. This activity is one of Three Pillars of Higher Education aparts from education and community service. The role of higher education is indispensable in achieving the nation’s development. Politeknik Negeri Jember improves continuously the quality of applied research in the field of agriculture, agribusiness, and agroindustry. Those focus on the relevance to the living standards and welfare of the community of society and also state-owned enterprises and private companies. Furthermore, the results of the applied research are mostly implemented in real-world settings of society’ life.

Community Service. Politeknik Negeri Jember conducts community services through Unit of Research and Community Service (Pusat Penelitian Dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (P3M). It has contributed to the infrastructures program of central and regional goverments, and also micro enterprises in their efforts to increase the quality and production capacity, to optimize production management and marketing and to obtain loan of micro credit program (Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR).
