RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING PROGRAM AT POLIJE EARNS INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION FROM IABEE

A remarkable achievement has once again been recorded by the State Polytechnic of Jember (Polije), particularly from its Faculty of Engineering. The Undergraduate Applied Program in Renewable Energy Engineering (TET) has officially received international accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Board of Engineering Education (IABEE), under certificate number 00184.A. This certification serves as solid evidence that the TET program meets globally recognized standards of engineering education.

IABEE is an independent accreditation body recognized internationally, with a primary focus on ensuring the quality of higher education in Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, Informatics, and Computing. Its accreditation framework is designed based on international principles and criteria aligned with the Washington Accord, allowing accredited programs to gain global recognition for their graduates.

According to Mochammad Nuruddin, S.T., M.Si., Head of the Engineering Department at Polije, this accomplishment is the result of collective hard work and dedication from all parties involved in the accreditation process.

“This achievement would not have been possible without the outstanding collaboration and contributions from the taskforce team, lecturers, technicians, administrative staff, students, and alumni of the TET Program. We are also deeply grateful for the full support of Polije’s leadership, including the Director, Vice Directors, the Engineering Department management, and all supporting units who played active roles in preparing the documentation and during the field assessment,” he stated.

The road to accreditation was not an easy one. It involved the meticulous preparation of comprehensive documentation, thorough internal evaluations, and an on-site assessment by IABEE assessors, who evaluated various elements such as the curriculum, graduate competencies, teaching and learning processes, facilities and infrastructure, as well as industry and alumni engagement.

With this international accreditation, the TET Program at Polije reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the quality of vocational higher education in the field of renewable energy. The certification also paves the way for its graduates to be more competitive in the global job market and to expand international collaboration with similar institutions and industries abroad.

“We hope this recognition will further inspire our academic community to innovate and enhance the quality of academic services. This is also aligned with Polije’s vision to become a leading vocational higher education institution in Asia,” Nuruddin added.

Looking ahead, the TET Program will continue to develop an industry-oriented curriculum, strengthen collaboration with the business and industrial sectors, and enhance the competencies of its graduates in tackling future energy challenges, particularly the transition toward clean and sustainable energy.

Through this achievement, Polije once again demonstrates its dedication to producing competent, adaptive, and globally competitive graduates. The IABEE certificate is not only a recognition of educational quality but also a motivation to keep progressing toward internationally benchmarked engineering education standards. (rda)
