Livestock Production Study Program
Profile
Livestock Production Study Program is a diploma 3 program. It focuses on the animal husbandry courses which lead the students to the following core competencies: breeding the animal, raising the livestock and processing the livestock production (cows, sheep and chicken). During three-year study, the students will experience two different atmospheres: lecturing classes which are indoor activities and practicum classes which are indoor and outdoor activities. The study program applies such combined activities for 5 (five) semesters – it includes the finishing of final project which is one of the requirements for the completion study in State Polytechnic of Jember. In the 6th (sixth) semester, the students conduct internship program in the relevant companies which is also one of requirements for the completion of the study in State Polytechnic of Jember. Completing the study process, the graduates may attach the title of bachelor of applied science (S.ST) Having completed the courses, the students in this study program are able to master technical and managerial skill in: breeding the animal, raising the livestock and processing the livestock products. By mastering the core competencies, the graduates are qualified to be part of professional staff in livestock industry and livestock processing industry. In addition, the study program prepares the graduates to be a professional entrepreneur in the field of livestock production: fattening cattle, milk dairy production, broiler, laying hens, goat fattening and goat milk production. This study program is for the senior high school level graduates who have learned biology, mathematics and chemistry.

- The graduate is able to plan and arrange production of livestock in accordance to the specifications and quality standards that have been determined.
- The graduate is able to select animal feed, livestock germs and post-harvest handling based on the quality standards.
- The graduate is able to supervise the processing of raw materials during production process.
- The graduate is able to evaluate production activities to determine the deficiencies so that they can be improved in the future.
- The graduate is able to master the theory of animal feed material selection, breeding and post-harvest handling of livestock products in a modern way and verify the results.
- The graduate is able to arrange periodical reports on the use of animal feed materials, selection results and production quantities.
The graduate is able to be Field Extension Officer. They are described as follow:
- The graduate is able to motivate the farmers and their communities.
- The graduate is able to solve the issues related to livestock, feed, disease, reproductive disorders and handling of livestock products.
- The graduate is able to direct and guide farmers, livestock entrepreneurs and the community by applying up-dated science and technology in the field of animal husbandry.
- Able to find inputs/solutions to increase production, maintenance programs, prevention and treatment of livestock diseases and post-harvest handling of livestock products based on animal husbandry science and technology.

- The graduate is able to deeply understand the characteristics and the system of breeding, raising and fattening the cattle.
- The graduate is able to identify quality of heifers and bulls based on the quality standards of breeding
- The graduate is able to select germs, heifers and bulls based on the characteristics of animal, genetically potency, and other determined standards.
- The graduate is able to provide assessment based on the determined standards.
