Horticulture Crop Production Study Program

Profile

Horticulture crops production study program is a diploma program. The study program focuses on horticulture that lead the students master following competencies: seeding, horticulture crops cultivation, post-harvest management as well as post-harvest marketing, especially horticulture crops (ornamental plants, vegetables, fruits). During three-year study, the students will experience two different atmospheres: lecturing classes which are indoor activities and practicum classes which are indoor and outdoor activities. State Polytechnic of Jember applies such combined activities for five semesters. In the 6th (sixth) semester of this study program, the students conduct internship program in the relevant companies. The completed students in this study program are able to master technical and managerial skills in terms of horticulture crop cultivation, post-harvest management and post-harvest marketing. Those skills enable the graduates to contribute in society as a qualified worker as well as entrepreneur. Calon mahasiswa yang bisa mendaftar program ini adalah lulusan SLTA atau sederajat dari berbagai jurusan khususnya yang mengajarkan biologi dan matematika. Pada program ini, mahasiswa mendapatkan perkuliahan baik di kelas, laboratorium maupun di lapangan selama 5 semester, termasuk menyelesaikan tugas akhir. Kemudian pada semester 6, mereka mengikuti program magang di industri yang relevan. Setelah menyelesaikan program ini, lulusan diharapkan menguasai keterampilan teknis dan manajerial dalam hal pembibitan, budidaya, penanganan pasca panen dan pemasaran tanaman hortikultura. Dengan memiliki keterampilan tersebut, lulusan dapat bekerja sebagai wirausahawan atau karyawan di perusahaan hortikultura. Calon mahasiswa yang bisa mendaftar program ini adalah lulusan SLTA atau sederajat dari berbagai jurusan khususnya yang mengajarkan biologi dan matematika.
