Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) received a visit from representatives of Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. This visit aims to discuss strengthening cooperation in the Joint Degree and Fast Track programs, taking place in the Polije Conference Room 2 on Wednesday (28/8).
Ahmad Pitra, a representative from MSU, explained that the collaboration between the two institutions is very important, especially in facilitating synergy between study programs at Polije. During the meeting, Pitra highlighted that the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Polije and MSU opens up opportunities for various activities, including guest lectures, research, and upskilling.
“We hope that this collaboration can be further strengthened, especially in academic processes such as proposal defense and completion seminars, which can facilitate Polije lecturers in completing further studies, both at the master and doctoral levels, with a more efficient duration,” he explained.
In addition, Pitra also appreciated the support given by the Polije team, mentioning that several Polije alumni have now joined MSU and are involved in various forms of cooperation and student management.
“We open the opportunity for Polije to have further discussions regarding cooperation opportunities that can be implemented in the future,” he added.
Vice Director for Planning, Collaboration, and Information Systems of Polije, Agung Wahyono, S.P., M.SI., Ph.D., said that the partnership between Polije and MSU has been going well since 2018 and continues to grow.
“Later, Polije plans to establish an international affairs office, as part of efforts to increase international cooperation such as with MSU and various other foreign institutions according to the Director’s direction,” he said.
The Joint Degree and Fast Track programs that have been established allow Polije students to complete six semesters at Polije and two semesters at MSU, and obtain two degrees. For students who want to continue their studies, they can also earn a Master’s degree by adding one more year at MSU.
“We appreciate the various study programs offered by MSU, including in engineering and business. I also urge other departments that do not yet have international cooperation to explore existing opportunities and make the most of them,” Agung continued.
In addition, Vice Director for Planning, Collaboration, and Information Systems mentioned that 12 students from the Polije Informatics Engineering department will soon leave for Malaysia to continue their studies at MSU.
“There are indeed challenges in the process of initiating a joint degree program, but I emphasize that all administrative permits have been completed, so this program can proceed smoothly. I would also like to thank all those who attended and contributed to the discussion of this cooperation, and hope that the cooperation that has been established can continue to grow in the future,” he concluded.
