Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) continues to promote applied innovation through Project-Based Learning (PBL), responding to global challenges in health, digital transformation, and sustainable development. The Department of Health recently held a PBL Product Showcase at GOR Perjuangan 45, highlighting the theme “Collaboration in Digital Health, Nutricraft, and Community Empowerment.” The event served as a platform for students from three study programs to present health-focused innovations developed through collaborative, hands-on learning.
One of the most notable projects was SIP-Kes (Health Psychosocial Information System), a mental health application created by students and already integrated with the Ministry of Health’s Satu Sehat platform. This reflects an important step in digitalizing mental health services—an issue gaining urgent attention globally due to rising mental health concerns post-pandemic. Polije Director Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., underscored the value of the event.
“This is a strategic initiative that equips students with practical skills while encouraging entrepreneurial thinking relevant to the real world,” he said.
The showcase also brought in stakeholders from industries, services, and healthcare sectors. Through direct assessments and feedback from professionals, students were guided to improve their innovations and better prepare for career challenges. Dr. Koeshar Yudyarto, Secretary of the Jember District Health Office, highlighted the relevance of SIP-Kes.
“Applications like this are highly needed in health facilities such as Puskesmas and clinics. With stronger promotion, they could make a meaningful impact in mental health care,” he stated.
Beyond innovation, the event featured exhibitions of healthy food products, herbal remedies, and community health consultations—bridging academia and public service. It also echoed international calls from WHO and UNESCO for stronger links between education, technology, and public health.
By fostering creativity, teamwork, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, Polije’s PBL approach exemplifies how vocational education can lead transformative change at both local and global levels. The institution remains committed to producing graduates who are ready to contribute meaningfully to health innovation, regional development, and the broader goals of global resilience. (rda)
