The Guidance and Counseling Teacher Association (MGBK) of Kediri Regency successfully organized the 2025 Education Exhibition at the Convention Hall, Simpang Lima Gumul (SLG) in Kediri Regency. The two-day event, held on Tuesday-Wednesday, February 4-5, 2025, featured various universities from within and outside Kediri.
With the theme “Gen Z Towards Indonesia with the Right Career,” the Head of the Education Branch for Kediri Regency and City, Chairul Effendi, encouraged 12th-grade students to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain accurate information about universities. He emphasized the importance of choosing the right major that aligns with students’ talents and interests to support future success. The students’ enthusiasm for participating in the exhibition was very high.
“This exhibition is held for two days due to the large interest from students. With 78 booths, students have many options to gather information about various universities,” said Chairul Effendi after visiting several booths.
However, he acknowledged that education costs remain a major challenge for some students. To address this, the government has provided various assistance programs, such as the KIP Kuliah (College Tuition Assistance Program) and GNOTA programs, aimed at supporting prospective students from low-income families to continue their higher education.
On the same occasion, Agung Wahyono, Vice Director 4 of Politeknik Negeri Jember, also delivered a speech. He explained that the exhibition serves as a platform for SMA and MA students to better understand the available study programs at universities.
“Through this exhibition, students can gain deeper insights into the study programs they are interested in, including career prospects after graduation. This is an important step in determining their career path,” he said.
The exhibition featured various universities from within and outside Kediri, offering a wide range of study fields, from healthcare to aviation. In addition to public and private universities, vocational education institutions also participated, providing more options for students who wish to enter the workforce directly after graduation.
Students were seen eagerly visiting each booth to gather more information about study programs, scholarships, and registration pathways. Not only students, but also parents attended to have direct discussions with university representatives to ensure their children receive the best education based on their interests and potential.
In addition to being an educational information platform, the exhibition also allowed universities to introduce the advantages and facilities they offer. Some universities showcased flagship programs, including merit-based scholarships and international cooperation for student exchange programs and joint degree initiatives.
With the successful organization of this Education Exhibition, it is hoped that more students will have a clearer understanding of their higher education options and career opportunities in the future. This event serves as a concrete step in preparing Indonesia’s youth to be more ready to face the workforce and global competition. (rda)
