Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) once again strengthened its international network by organizing the Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship Seminar 2026. The event took place on Thursday (27/11/2025) at the Vocational Auditorium.
The seminar directly hosted representatives from the Taiwan Ministry of Education and the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia. Their aim was to provide information about scholarships and further study opportunities for Polije students.
Agung Wahyono, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Director for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems at Polije, explained that the Taiwan Education Center chose Polije as the host due to its strong track record in international programs.
“Polije has experience sending students through the industry academia scheme, or 2+1 (two years of study and one year of industrial internship), which has now developed into the Intense Program. This is the reason Polije was trusted to facilitate the Taiwan scholarship seminar alongside Jember University,” he stated.
Agung added that the scholarship opportunities offered by Taiwan are highly diverse, coming from both universities and the Taiwanese government. According to him, the chance for Polije students is wide open, provided they meet the specified requirements.
Tirta Amerta Effendy, Manager of the Taiwan Education Center Indonesia, confirmed that the event was a collaboration between Politeknik Negeri Jember, the Taiwan Ministry of Education, TETO Jakarta, and TEC Indonesia.
“We carry a message from the Taiwan Ministry of Education and TETO to encourage more Indonesian students, including those from Polije, to pursue studies and careers in Taiwan,” he explained.
Tirta elaborated that the scholarship opportunity for Indonesian students is substantial.
“Currently, more than 16,000 Indonesian students are already studying in Taiwan, placing Indonesia in the second highest position after Vietnam. Scholarship interest increases every year, and we hope this seminar inspires Polije students to apply for study and scholarships to Taiwan,” he remarked.
With strong support from the Taiwanese government and Polije’s commitment to fostering global mobility, the seminar serves as a strategic step to expand students’ access to international education and overseas career opportunities.
