The Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) conducted an official visit to PT PAL Indonesia to discuss the development of a structured internship program in collaboration with the state-owned shipbuilding company. This initiative is designed to strengthen the link and match between industry and academia, particularly in preparing students with practical and industry-relevant skills.
During the visit, the POLIJE delegation was accompanied by representatives from Skills for Competitiveness (S4C) Swisscontact Indonesia, namely Benaya Jaya (Senior Program Officer) and Niken Palupi, who provided support and facilitation throughout the discussions. The primary focus of the collaboration will be on the Automotive Engineering Study Program, ensuring that students gain valuable exposure to real-world industrial practices.
PT PAL welcomed the initiative and expressed strong support for creating a more structured pathway for vocational students to contribute to the shipbuilding and maritime industry. The company emphasized the importance of equipping future engineers and technicians with both technical expertise and workplace readiness, which aligns with its long-term strategy of developing competent human resources for the national maritime sector.
For POLIJE, the collaboration represents a valuable opportunity to provide its students with hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom. By engaging directly in industry-level projects at PT PAL, students will be able to enhance their problem-solving skills, adapt to professional environments, and better understand the dynamics of large-scale engineering industries.
This visit also reflects POLIJE’s broader commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with leading industries across Indonesia. With continuous support from programs such as S4C Swisscontact Indonesia, POLIJE strives to strengthen vocational education and ensure that graduates are well-prepared to meet both national and global challenges.
