Polije and BFH Swiss Review Laboratory and TEFA Management

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) continued its collaborative efforts with Skill for Competitiveness (S4C) by hosting a review session on laboratory and Teaching Factory (TEFA) management. The activity, conducted at the Ruang Sidang Pimpinan Polije, was supported by Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH-HAFL) Switzerland and Waste4Change as a strategic partner.

The agenda focused on reviewing key management documents that strengthen TEFA operations and laboratory processes. Discussions began with the review of TEFA management documents (concept 1), followed by Problem-Based Learning (PBL) documents on pasteurized milk production. Later, participants also evaluated PBL documents related to sterilized milk production, ensuring that each step aligned with international standards in dairy processing.

In the afternoon, attention shifted toward evaluating SOPs for laboratory practices. The review sessions included the SOP for the Laboratory of Animal Protein Processing and the SOP for yoghurt production. These sessions were essential in ensuring that laboratory and TEFA practices meet quality assurance benchmarks, thus enhancing the institution’s ability to provide practical, industry-oriented education.

The event was attended by the TEFA Dairy Team, represented by Hutama Puranto, M.Pt., Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani, S.Pt., M.Si., and Muhammad Ihsan Alfarizi, S.TP., M.Sc. Additionally, the Department of Agricultural Technology was represented by Dr. Elly Kurniawati, S.TP., M.P., and Resti Pranata Putri, S.Si., M.Sc. Their active participation emphasized the multi-disciplinary collaboration required for effective laboratory and TEFA management.

Through this initiative, Polije aims to elevate its TEFA and laboratory systems to a global standard. The collaboration with S4C, BFH Swiss, and Waste4Change serves as a stepping stone for institutional capacity building, ensuring that Polije continues to advance innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in higher education.
