Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije), through its Office of International Affairs, proudly dispatched five selected students to participate in the Student Exchange Program for Spring Semester 2025 at the Prefectural University of Hiroshima (PUH), Sobara Campus, Japan. The departure, which took place on March 31, 2025, marks a significant step in the institution’s mission to strengthen global partnerships and enhance the international exposure of its students.
The students selected for this prestigious program represent two leading study programs at Polije: Agricultural Engineering and Renewable Energy Engineering. They are:
Fikri Hidayatullah – Agricultural Engineering
Panji Ridho Rifata Raya – Agricultural Engineering
Bangkit Dewa Negara – Renewable Energy Engineering
Maulana Alfi Fredyansyah – Renewable Energy Engineering
Rachel Natalie Anggraini – Renewable Energy Engineering
This exchange program is a result of the ongoing collaboration between Polije and Prefectural University of Hiroshima, which began as part of a broader initiative to promote student mobility, joint research, and intercultural understanding between Japan and Indonesia. The Sobara Campus, located in a rural area of Hiroshima Prefecture, offers students a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge academic learning while being immersed in sustainable agriculture and renewable energy practices in Japan.
During their time at PUH, the students will engage in diverse academic and cultural activities, including specialized coursework, laboratory work, and collaborative research projects with local faculty and students. Additionally, they will take part in field visits to agricultural facilities and renewable energy sites in the region, which will enrich their understanding of how theory is applied in real-world contexts.
“This program is not only about academic learning—it is also a cultural journey. The students will gain valuable insights into Japanese culture, work ethics, and community life. We believe this will shape them into globally-minded professionals ready to contribute both locally and internationally,” said Vigo Dewangga, the Head of the Office of International Affairs, Polije.
Prior to departure, the participants underwent a comprehensive pre-departure orientation covering cross-cultural communication, academic preparation, health and safety briefings, and Japanese etiquette to ensure their readiness for the exchange program.
This international mobility program is a manifestation of Polije’s commitment to producing graduates with global competencies. By continuing to foster international partnerships and opening opportunities for students to study abroad, Polije positions itself as a forward-thinking institution that prepares its students to be part of the global academic and professional landscape.
Polije extends its best wishes to the students and expresses its gratitude to Prefectural University of Hiroshima for their continued support and collaboration. It is hoped that this experience will not only benefit the individual participants but also contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two institutions in the future. (rda)
