Eight international students from Jiangsu Agri-Animal Husbandry Vocational College (JSAHVC), China, are currently participating in a field practice program at the Teaching Factory (TEFA) Milk of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije). This activity is part of the Animal Product Technology course under the coordination of Mrs. Rizki Amalia, Coordinator of the Livestock Study Program, Department of Animal Husbandry.
The program provides an opportunity for international students to gain hands-on experience in milk processing and dairy product innovation. Through this activity, they learn directly about production management, hygiene control, and quality assurance, which are essential aspects of modern livestock and dairy technology.
During the field practice, the JSAHVC students were guided to understand the complete process at TEFA Milk, from the handling of raw milk to the production of processed dairy products such as yogurt and pasteurized milk. The teaching and supervision were conducted collaboratively by lecturers and instructors from Polije’s Department of Animal Husbandry, ensuring an applied learning environment aligned with global vocational education standards.
The Coordinator of the Livestock Study Program, Mrs. Rizki Amalia, expressed her appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm and discipline throughout the activity. She explained that this international learning collaboration not only strengthens academic cooperation between Polije and JSAHVC but also enhances students’ practical skills and intercultural understanding in the agricultural sector.
The presence of international students at TEFA Milk also reflects Polije’s strong commitment to internationalisation and global engagement. By welcoming foreign students to learn directly on campus, Polije demonstrates its readiness to serve as a hub of applied learning and vocational excellence in Southeast Asia.
Through this program, both institutions aim to share expertise and experiences in livestock technology and dairy production. The collaboration is expected to foster innovation, improve practical competencies, and promote knowledge exchange among students and lecturers from Indonesia and China.
Vice Director for Collaboration Affairs, Agung Wahyono, Ph.D., stated that the participation of international students in TEFA-based learning is one of Polije’s key indicators of global competitiveness. It supports the institution’s mission to integrate international standards into teaching, research, and industry-based practices.
The field practice at TEFA Milk not only strengthens Polije’s partnership with JSAHVC but also builds a bridge for future cooperation in research, internships, and joint academic programs. This activity serves as a concrete step toward realizing Polije’s vision of becoming a world-class vocational institution that prepares students—both local and international—to thrive in the global agricultural and livestock industries.
