POLIJE and Situbondo Regency Government Sign MoU to Strengthen Regional and International Collaboration

Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Situbondo Regency Government to establish a strategic partnership in education, research, community service, and regional development. The signing marks a concrete step by both parties to strengthen collaboration that directly supports Situbondo’s economic growth while aligning with POLIJE’s mission as an applied higher education institution.

The agreement reflects POLIJE’s ongoing commitment to promoting vocational-based innovation and regional empowerment. Through this MoU, both institutions aim to integrate academic expertise with local government programs, particularly in developing human resources and supporting sectors that are key to Situbondo’s economy. The collaboration is expected to enhance local competitiveness, improve the quality of vocational education, and stimulate sustainable regional development.

One of the key focuses of this partnership is the development of Situbondo’s coastal and aquaculture sectors. POLIJE will provide academic and technical support to help the Situbondo Government optimize its marine resources, including seed and marine fish production. Situbondo has long been known for its abundant aquaculture potential, and this collaboration seeks to transform that strength into higher value-added and export-oriented industries.

As part of this initiative, POLIJE will assist in exploring the export potential of marine fish and seed commodities through applied research, product innovation, and capacity-building programs. The institution will also facilitate training to improve production quality, packaging, and certification standards that meet international export requirements. This partnership not only contributes to the local economy but also enhances the global competitiveness of Situbondo’s marine products.

POLIJE’s expertise in agricultural and marine technology will be a vital asset in strengthening Situbondo’s aquaculture value chain—from hatchery management and processing innovation to market development. The collaboration will also encourage the involvement of students and lecturers through internships, research, and community service, ensuring a continuous exchange of knowledge between academia and industry.

In line with POLIJE’s vision of becoming a “Leading Polytechnic in Agrotechnotropics with ASEAN Competitiveness,” this cooperation embodies the institution’s commitment to internationalization. By supporting Situbondo in developing export-quality aquaculture products, POLIJE not only contributes to regional prosperity but also positions itself as a bridge between local innovation and global markets.

Both parties have agreed to establish a joint working team to follow up on the MoU with concrete programs, including technology transfer, export training, and joint research. The implementation phase will emphasize measurable outcomes that benefit both institutions, ensuring that the partnership remains sustainable and impactful.

Through this collaboration, POLIJE and the Situbondo Regency Government reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing regional development through education, innovation, and global engagement. By combining Situbondo’s natural potential with POLIJE’s academic excellence and international perspective, the partnership is expected to become a model of how higher education and local government can work hand in hand to achieve international recognition.
