Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) marks a historic milestone in its internationalization journey by welcoming its first two international postgraduate students — Haji Shaban Maligisa from Tanzania and Mohammedalghali Alhafiz Mohammedalnour Albakri from Sudan. This significant step reflects POLIJE’s strong commitment to realizing its vision of becoming a Leading Polytechnic in Agrotechnotropics with ASEAN Competitiveness.
Both students have officially commenced their studies in POLIJE’s postgraduate program, focusing on applied agricultural sciences and innovation. Their enrollment not only strengthens the global academic atmosphere on campus but also demonstrates the growing international trust in POLIJE’s quality education and research in the field of agricultural technology.
Haji Shaban Maligisa and Mohammedalghali Alhafiz Mohammedalnour Albakri expressed their excitement to study in Indonesia and to learn about agricultural technology within the agrotechnotropic context—a concept that emphasizes the sustainable and technological advancement of agriculture in tropical regions. They will join various research and academic activities alongside local and international scholars at POLIJE.
POLIJE’s Deputy Director for Partnership and International Affairs, Agung Wahyono, Ph.D., welcomed the students warmly and emphasized that this achievement signifies an important step in positioning POLIJE as a globally recognized institution. “The presence of international postgraduate students enriches our academic community and encourages stronger global collaboration in applied agricultural research,” he stated.
Dr. Agung also highlighted that POLIJE remains dedicated to providing a supportive academic environment that fosters intercultural understanding, innovation, and collaboration. The inclusion of students from Tanzania and Sudan marks the beginning of deeper international academic cooperation, particularly in addressing global agricultural challenges through technology and sustainability.
Throughout their study, both students will have the opportunity to participate in research projects, engage in community-based learning, and collaborate with POLIJE lecturers and students on innovation-focused initiatives. This experience is expected to strengthen cross-cultural competence and promote knowledge exchange between Indonesia and African nations.
The admission of Haji Shaban Maligisa and Mohammedalghali Alhafiz Mohammedalnour Albakri also reflects POLIJE’s growing reputation as a destination for international education in the ASEAN region. It further reinforces the institution’s mission to become a hub for applied research and professional development in the field of agrotechnotropics.
With this milestone, POLIJE continues to expand its global network and pave the way for future collaborations, research partnerships, and academic exchanges—solidifying its role as an innovative, internationally oriented polytechnic dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural education.
