Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held the Closing Ceremony of the International Mobility and Community Service Program with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Melaka Branch on October 24, 2025. This activity was the result of cooperation between Polije’s Department of Language, Communication, and Tourism and The Academy of Language Studies (APB) UiTM Melaka, marking the conclusion of an eight-day series of student exchange and international community service activities.
The program served as part of both institutions’ commitment to strengthen international networks and expand student learning experiences through cross-cultural activities. During the event, participants from UiTM attended classes with Polije students, made field visits to the Cocoa Research Center (Puslit Kakao), Payangan Beach, and Papuma Beach, and participated in a CSR program with the local community.
One participant, Muhammad Aish Danial Bin Mohd Imran, a UiTM Melaka Branch student, expressed his impression of the learning experience in Indonesia.
“I am very happy and impressed while participating in this program. I learned many new things, from cultural differences, traffic, to the Indonesian lifestyle. The visit to the Cocoa Research Center and the beaches in Jember showed the advancement of agricultural technology and the natural beauty of Indonesia,” he said.
Aish also added that direct interaction with Polije students and the local community was a valuable experience.
“This program opened my perspective that the world is so vast and diverse. We need to explore and understand other cultures outside our own environment,” he added.
Meanwhile, Polije Vice Director for Student Affairs, Wahyu Kurnia Dewanto, S.Kom., M.T., stated that this activity was part of Polije’s strategic step in realizing its vision to become a leading polytechnic in Asia by 2035.
“This program is the first collaboration between Polije and UiTM Melaka Branch. From March to April 2025, Polije already sent students to UiTM, and this time UiTM made a return visit. Based on participant testimonials, they greatly enjoyed this activity and gained new inspiring experiences,” he said.
Wahyu added that Polije is committed to expanding the form of cooperation in the future.
“We hope this program continues, not only in the form of student mobility, but also research collaboration, teaching, and other academic activities among students, lecturers, and the entire academic community of both institutions,” he concluded.
