The Community Service Team of Jember State Polytechnic (Polije) has provided intensive support to Gehael Food Indonesia, an MSME from Bondowoso specializing in rengginang tape. Funded by the 2025 Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), the program focuses on introducing automated drying technology and reinforcing food safety standards to enhance export readiness.
“We are transferring technology through the provision of a molding machine and an automatic cabinet dryer to optimize production that was previously done manually,” said the head of the Polije community service team.
The initiative not only improves operational efficiency but also ensures consistency and hygiene in production. The team further guided the MSME in preparing food safety documentation essential for international market access.
“A strong food safety system is the key to entering global markets,” added another member of the team.
The owner of Gehael Food Indonesia expressed optimism about the collaboration.
“With the new machines, our process is faster and more hygienic. We hope this innovation will bring our product to export-level quality,” she said.
This effort reflects Polije’s commitment to uplifting local industries while aligning with global development frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in advancing innovation, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable production.
By integrating technology and quality assurance, rengginang tape from Bondowoso is now one step closer to becoming a regional product with international potential.
