Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) organized a review session on campus waste management as part of preparations for the 3rd Workshop with Skill for Competitiveness (S4C). The meeting took place in the Ruang Sidang Pimpinan Polije, with the support of strategic partner Waste4Change. The agenda highlighted the importance of strengthening the institution’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
The morning session began with discussions on a draft circular letter from campus leadership concerning waste management at Polije. This was followed by a thorough review of the roles and responsibilities of the waste management team. The participants then finalized the flow of waste management implementation, ensuring clarity and efficiency in the system to be applied across campus.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted toward developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for inorganic waste sorting and treatment. Additionally, the team also discussed SOPs for organic waste management using methods that excluded maggot-based processing, exploring alternative, environmentally friendly solutions. These sessions underscored the importance of having structured and detailed guidelines for effective implementation.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Vice Director for Finance and General Affairs, the Head of the General Affairs Subdivision, and the SDGs Team. Members of the SDGs Team present were Wendy Triadji Nugroho, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Rizki Amalia Nurfitriani, S.Pt., M.Si., and Dafi Ari Prasetyo, S.T., M.T. Their involvement reflects Polije’s commitment to aligning academic expertise with practical institutional needs.
This activity reaffirmed Polije’s dedication to building a sustainable campus through collaborative partnerships. By working with S4C and Waste4Change, the institution aims to develop innovative waste management solutions that can serve as a model for other higher education institutions in Indonesia.
