Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) met with the Human Resources Bureau of the Ministry of Finance to discuss the progress of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and proposals for the 2026 internship policy. The MOU, first initiated in October 2024, aims to enhance collaboration in student internships, joint research, practitioner involvement in teaching, and graduate recruitment.
Polije emphasized the need for equal recognition of D4 Accounting graduates in recruitment processes at the Ministry of Finance, which are currently more focused on S1 Accounting. The institution also proposed adjustments to align recruitment with regulations from the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
The meeting also addressed the upcoming internship policy for 2026. The Ministry of Finance initially planned to provide incentives for interns, but concerns about budget limits could reduce participation. To ensure opportunities remain available, Polije suggested a self-funded internship scheme, allowing students to join the program without financial incentives.
The Head of Recruitment at the HR Bureau, Mr. Widi, clarified that the main concern of the MOU was not about obligating the Ministry to hire Polije graduates. “The point is not to demand exclusive recruitment, but to open opportunities for D4 Accounting graduates to compete fairly in CPNS recruitment,” he said. He added that while several other MOUs are still under review, Polije’s agreement had already received preliminary approval.
On the internship proposal, Widi explained, “Most interns do not expect incentives, so the Ministry is not strictly required to provide them. Still, we will carefully review Polije’s input to ensure the program has a stronger legal foundation.”
Collaboration between Polije and the Ministry has been ongoing since 2020, with students placed in units such as KPPN Semarang 1, KPPN Jember, and the Directorate General of State Assets. Practitioners from the Ministry have also contributed to teaching at Polije.
Polije hopes that the strengthened MOU and improved internship framework will ensure long-term benefits. A Polije representative concluded, “We believe this cooperation will enhance student readiness for the workforce while contributing to the Ministry of Finance’s mission.”
