Polije Student Gains Firsthand Experience in Indonesia’s State Budget Deliberations

A student from the Public Sector Accounting Program at Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije), Diki Ardiansyah, had the rare opportunity to directly observe the legislative process of Indonesia’s 2026 State Budget (APBN) during his internship at the Ministry of Finance’s Directorate General of Budget (DJA).

As part of his placement at the Directorate of Budget Planning, Diki attended a series of meetings of the House of Representatives’ Budget Committee (Badan Anggaran DPR-RI). On September 9, 2025, he observed policy discussions on macroeconomics, non-tax state revenues (PNBP), grants, and financing. A week later, on September 16, he followed detailed debates on the draft budget’s main provisions and explanatory notes.

The highlight came on September 18, 2025, when Diki witnessed the formal ratification of the 2026 State Budget, signed by the Chair of the Budget Committee alongside Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

“This experience is truly invaluable because it bridges the theories I study on campus with the real-world practice of managing state finances,” Diki reflected. He added that beyond enriching his academic knowledge, the internship offered him practical insights into budget formulation and approval, while also allowing him to build professional networks.

The Public Sector Accounting Program at Polije actively encourages students to pursue internships in strategic government institutions, ensuring graduates gain firsthand experience in public financial management. This initiative underscores Polije’s commitment to preparing students for impactful careers in the public sector.
