Polije Launches SMART PKK App to Boost Community Welfare Programs in Nganjuk

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) Campus 3 in Nganjuk, Indonesia, has officially launched SMART PKK, a mobile and web-based application designed to improve the performance of the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP-PKK). Developed by lecturers and students from the Informatics Engineering program, the app aims to modernize data management, recordkeeping, and activity reporting across PKK organizations.

The program is led by a team of Polije lecturers: Intan Sulistyaningrum Sakkinah, S.Pd., M.Eng.; Ulfa Emi Rahmawati, S.Kom., M.Kom.; Puji Hastuti, S.T., M.Eng.; Raditya Arief Pratama, S.Kom., M.Eng.; Dr. Khomsatun Ni’mah, S.Pd., M.Pd.; and Muhammad Ainul Fikri, S.T., M.Eng. Students were also directly involved, gaining hands-on experience while delivering practical digital solutions for community needs.

SMART PKK addresses the long-standing reliance on manual recordkeeping within PKK activities. Through its digital features, the platform enhances communication, strengthens coordination, and increases the efficiency of PKK cadres working from the village to district levels. Key functions include information management, working group data tracking, and digital reporting. User satisfaction surveys show strong approval, with most respondents rating the app between 4 and 5 (agree to strongly agree).

“This launch marks the beginning of PKK’s digital transformation,” said project leader Intan Sulistyaningrum Sakkinah. Local government officials also welcomed the initiative, with TP-PKK Chair of Nganjuk Regency, S. Wahyuni Marhaen, praising the app as “a tangible step in improving PKK performance.”

By integrating technology into grassroots welfare programs, Polije reinforces its commitment to regional development through community engagement. The SMART PKK app is expected to prepare local cadres for the digital era, support smarter villages, and strengthen efforts to build more prosperous communities in East Java.
