In August 2025, lecturers and students from Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) launched a community service program to support Kerupuk Pule MSMEs in Curah Lele Village. The program focused on improving production quality, introducing flavor innovations, and strengthening digital marketing strategies to increase competitiveness.
Team leader M. Rizal Permadi, S.Gz., M.Gizi., said the MSME still faced challenges in traditional production methods, poor hygiene standards, long drying times, and limited marketing reach.
“Through this program, we want MSMEs to produce hygienic and efficient products that can reach wider markets,” he explained.
During the training, participants practiced each stage of production based on CPPOB standards, including raw material selection, dough preparation, steaming, and packaging. The Polije team also introduced new flavors such as spicy, shrimp paste, onion, shrimp, and coriander, which received positive feedback from local producers.
The program also upgraded the drying process with a solar cabinet dryer, reducing drying time from two days to just 8–9 hours while maintaining cleanliness and boosting capacity. To strengthen market presence, the team trained MSMEs in modern marketing, including attractive packaging design, branding, and online sales through platforms like Shopee and Tokopedia.
Local MSME owner Halimah expressed her enthusiasm. “This training is very useful because now we feel more confident selling our products online,” she said.
With this initiative, Polije hopes Kerupuk Pule will gain recognition not only in local markets but also as a signature Jember product with strong potential in the national market.
