A community service team from Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has conducted a Smart Classroom Strengthening Program at SMP Negeri 4 Jember, addressing the challenges of 21st-century education where digital technology, interactive communication, and innovative learning are increasingly essential.
The program was led by lecturers Fitri Wijayanti, Alfi Hidayatu Miqawati, and Titik Ismailia, with support from students Muhammad Aliefian Darmawan, Mohamad Rafael Bintang Holyo, and Amanda Diva Aprilliana. This collaboration between lecturers and students demonstrated Polije’s active role in supporting local education development.
The training was structured into two sessions: one for teachers and one for students. Teachers received guidance on their role as Smart Classroom facilitators, the use of digital learning media, and strategies to integrate technology into teaching. Meanwhile, students were trained in collaboration, creativity, communication, and the use of technology to foster interactive learning.
Lecturer Fitri Wijayanti emphasized that Smart Classroom is not merely about digital devices but about creating a modern learning ecosystem.
“Smart Classroom is more than a technology-based room—it is a learning ecosystem that promotes creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy,” she said.
Principal Surawi of SMPN 4 Jember expressed appreciation for the initiative.
“We are very grateful to Polije for supporting our teachers and students. This program has broadened perspectives, enabling teachers to use technology more effectively and helping students experience more interactive and enjoyable learning,” he noted.
Through this initiative, Polije contributes to improving education quality in Jember while supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and Indonesia’s national vision of developing highly skilled human resources.
