Polije Lecturer Earns Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence and Software from Ewha Womans University, South Korea

A remarkable achievement was made by Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije). Ika Widiastuti, S.ST., M.T., a lecturer at Polije, has officially earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Artificial Intelligence and Software from Ewha Womans University, Seoul, South Korea, on August 29, 2025. The degree was conferred under the Graduate School of Computer Science and Engineering at one of the country’s most prestigious universities.

Ika began her doctoral journey on September 1, 2022, supported by a scholarship awarded during her first semester at Ewha Womans University. Throughout her study, she focused on research and academic development in the field of artificial intelligence and software engineering, contributing to both theoretical advancements and applied innovations.

“For me, completing this doctoral study was a journey full of challenges as well as invaluable experiences. I have learned a lot, not only academically but also about international collaboration and the importance of innovation for societal progress,” said Dr. Ika Widiastuti, Monday (September 1, 2025).

The graduation ceremony was marked by the official conferment of the doctoral degree, signed by Prof. Yun Sil Lee, Dean of the Graduate School, and Prof. Hyang-Sook Lee, President of Ewha Womans University. This milestone not only signifies Dr. Ika’s personal academic success but also strengthens Polije’s academic reputation in the international arena.

“My hope is that more lecturers and students from Polije will be encouraged to continue their studies and research internationally. I also wish that the knowledge I bring home can contribute to advancing digital transformation and smart technology applications, particularly in agriculture and industry,” she added.
