Bank Indonesia Delivers Guest Lecture at Polije on Sustainable Economic Growth

Bank Indonesia (BI) once again held its Bank Indonesia Mengajar program, this time with the theme “The Evolving Role and Functions of Bank Indonesia as the Central Bank in Supporting Sustainable Economic Growth 2025.” The event took place on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) at the Vocational Auditorium of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije).

The session opened with remarks from Polije’s Vice Director for Student Affairs, Wahyu Kurnia Dewanto, S.Kom., M.T., who highlighted the importance of financial awareness among students. “I want to ask the students—do you already have savings? The awareness to save is the first step in building a better future,” he said.

Wahyu also emphasized the significance of understanding digital transformation in the financial system. “Bank Indonesia continues to push for digitalization in the payment system. Students need to understand these changes in order to adapt to financial technology developments,” he explained. He further noted that financial literacy is crucial for sustainable growth: “Financial literacy is not just about managing money but also about building a healthy mindset in making financial decisions. We hope that through this program, Polije students will be better prepared to face the challenges of the digital economy.”

The lecture featured Claresta Islamey from Bank Indonesia as the main speaker. She elaborated on BI’s strategic role as the central bank—from maintaining monetary stability and overseeing the payment system to promoting digital financial inclusion. Claresta also stressed the importance of students understanding global and national economic dynamics so they can contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s economic development.

Through Bank Indonesia Mengajar, Polije students are expected to strengthen their saving habits, understand digital payment systems, and develop strong financial literacy skills in support of sustainable economic growth.
