This activity is part of the ongoing collaboration between Seputih Village Government in Mayang District and Polije to promote organic farming. The Head of Seputih Village, Suryadi, also attended the event with local residents to take part in the hands-on practice of making the fertilizer.
According to Ir. Sugiarto, M.P., Polychar Plus fertilizer is made from abundant organic materials available in the village, making it cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
“Polychar Plus is a mixture of biochar, sheep manure, and NPK fertilizer with reduced dosage. By utilizing local resources, farmers can be more self-reliant while reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers,” he explained.
Village Head Suryadi welcomed the program, emphasizing its positive impact on improving the welfare of farmers and livestock breeders.
“Plant and livestock waste, including manure and urine, can be processed into fertilizer. This reduces production costs since the raw materials are cheap and easily available,” he said.
Suryadi further noted that processing organic waste into fertilizer can be integrated with both livestock and plantation sectors, creating a more efficient and sustainable agricultural cycle.
The training is expected to become a concrete step toward realizing productive and eco-friendly organic farming in Jember Regency.
