Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) held a grand inauguration ceremony for the 3,410 new students of the 2025–2026 academic year. The new cohort will take their seats across the main campus in Jember and six branch campuses, including Bondowoso, Nganjuk, Sidoarjo, Ngawi, and Sabu Raijua in East Nusa Tenggara.
This year sees a remarkable increase in enrolment—approximately 1,000 students more than the previous year. This surge reflects the growing public confidence in vocational higher education and the expanding appeal of Polije’s learning environment.
The welcoming ceremony was more than a formal gesture—it was a vibrant introduction to campus life. New students participated in orientation sessions, campus tours, and character-building activities under the Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) program. These sessions are designed to help them understand academic culture, ethics, and the values upheld by Polije.
One particularly memorable moment was the attendance of five international students—two in Applied Bachelor’s programs and three in Applied Master’s programs. Among them was Mohamedalnour Alhafiz Mohamed Alnour Albakrey from Sudan, who expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm to study at Polije after completing his Indonesian language training there.
The presence of international students highlights the institution’s growing global engagement and underlines its strategic vision for internationalization. As part of this move, Polije has begun offering regular classes for students from abroad that include tuition exemptions and living allowances, supporting broader accessibility and inclusion.
According to the Director of Polije, the high turnout of new students underscores the institution’s strong foundation in vocational education and its commitment to becoming a leading polytechnic in Asia by 2035. He emphasized that this milestone is a testament to the success of Polije’s innovative programs and collaborative partnerships.
Engagement in PKKMB activities saw warm participation from faculty, staff, and student mentors alike—ensuring new students felt welcome, supported, and integrated into the campus community from day one.
As the new academic year kicks off, Polije stands poised to deliver a high-impact educational experience. The inauguration of this substantial intake, combined with the inclusion of international students, sets a bold tone for the journey ahead—one that is marked by growth, collaboration, and global ambition.
