Polije, Jiangsu AAHVC, and PT Haida Join Forces to Develop Silk Road Farm

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has entered a groundbreaking collaboration with Jiangsu Agricultural & Animal Husbandry Vocational College (AAHVC), China, and PT Haida Agriculture Indonesia to develop a project known as Silk Road Farm—a pioneering initiative aimed at advancing agricultural education and innovation.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in a formal ceremony attended by key figures from the three institutions. This partnership reflects a commitment to integrating best practices in aquaculture, animal husbandry, and sustainable farming techniques across international borders.

At the heart of the Silk Road Farm initiative is the ambition to create a living laboratory for vocational and technical education. The farm will serve as a training and research site where students and researchers from Polije and AAHVC can gain hands-on experience with modern farming systems, while PT Haida provides operational and industry support.

Central to the project is the exchange of expertise and knowledge. Educators from Polije and Jiangsu AAHVC will collaborate on curriculum development tailored for vocational students, focusing on areas such as feed formulation, animal welfare, precision farming, and integrated resource management.

Moreover, the Silk Road Farm will facilitate student exchanges and internships. Polije students will have the opportunity to intern at Jiangsu’s facilities, while students from Jiangsu AAHVC will gain practical exposure at Polije’s farm. Both cohorts will benefit from immersion in different agricultural contexts, enhancing their global competencies and technical adaptability.

PT Haida’s involvement provides a vital industry perspective, ensuring that the educational content and the farm’s operations align with local business needs. Their support helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and the realities of the agricultural sector, making the project highly relevant and impactful.

Looking ahead, the partners plan to run collaborative research projects on themes such as sustainable fertilization, resource-efficient feed strategies, and climate-resilient livestock farming. Joint seminars, workshops, and field visits are envisioned to further solidify the relationship and share findings across both countries.

The Silk Road Farm initiative enhances Polije’s international profile while addressing regional development priorities—equipping future professionals with the skills needed for modern agriculture, encouraging productive cross-border collaboration, and advancing the vision of vocational education that serves both society and industry.
