Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guizhou Vocational College of Agriculture (GVCA), China, to foster cooperation in vocational education and agricultural innovation.
The signing ceremony was conducted during a recent international education forum held in Guizhou, where both institutions pledged to collaborate in areas such as curriculum development, research, and student exchange. This agreement underscores Polije’s commitment to enhancing global partnerships in agriculture and technical training.
Under the new MoU, both institutions plan to develop joint educational programs centered on modern agricultural technologies, such as precision farming, sustainable crop management, and agri-business practices tailored to local contexts in Indonesia and Guizhou.
The collaboration also includes the possibility of faculty exchange programs. Lecturers and researchers from both Polije and GVCA will have opportunities to participate in joint training sessions, workshops, and collaborative research projects, enabling them to share knowledge and strengthen pedagogical approaches.
Moreover, as part of the agreement, student exchanges are envisioned. Selected students from Polije will have the opportunity to participate in short-term study tours or internships at GVCA, gaining firsthand experience in Chinese agricultural techniques and innovation, while students from GVCA may also visit Polije to observe sustainable agricultural practices in Indonesia.
Polije further plans to organize joint research initiatives focused on key agricultural challenges, such as improving crop yields under climate variability, enhancing food security, and advancing rural development through technology adoption.
The MoU also includes provisions for co-hosting international seminars and conferences on vocational education, agriculture, and sustainability. These events will promote academic dialogue, knowledge sharing, and capacity building among educators and students from both countries.
By signing this agreement, Polije reaffirms its strategic goal of expanding global academic networks and enhancing its educational offerings in agriculture, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet global challenges in food systems and rural innovation.
