In a concerted effort to fortify campus safety, Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) mobilized its Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT) to lead a comprehensive awareness campaign aimed at students and student organization leaders (Ormawa).
Comprising eleven dedicated members drawn from diverse segments of the academic community, the Satgas PPKPT adopted a collaborative approach to delivering the outreach. Their mission: to raise awareness about forms of violence—ranging from physical and psychological abuse to bullying and sexual misconduct—and to promote a safer, more respectful campus culture.
The event featured engaging sessions that educated participants on recognizing early signs of violence and provided them with practical tools to intervene or report such incidents. Discussions also covered emerging threats such as digital harassment, underscoring the evolving nature of violence in an increasingly online educational environment.
Representatives from the Satgas PPKPT emphasized that prevention requires collective responsibility. They encouraged attendees to be proactive: to speak up, engage in promoting inclusivity, and lean on established support mechanisms if needed. The goal was clear—to foster an academic environment where all members feel safe and empowered.
By involving leaders from various student organizations, the outreach aimed to amplify its impact. Ormawa members were urged to become ambassadors of awareness within their own circles, ensuring that the message of respect and non-violence resonates throughout campus life.
This initiative exemplifies Polije’s commitment to nurturing not just technological and academic excellence, but also a campus community grounded in safety, empathy, and mutual respect. Through the Satgas PPKPT’s proactive work, the institution continues to strengthen its foundation as a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
