DAY 3: STRENGTHENING LANGUAGE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THROUGH MOBILITY PROGRAM

On Wednesday, 30 April 2025, students from Politeknik Negeri Jember (POLIJE) participated in a series of academic and cultural activities during their visit to Malaysia. The day commenced with a visit to the Tun Abdul Razak Library, where the students were given an insightful tour of the facility. They explored various sections of the library and learned about its digital and physical resources, gaining a deeper appreciation of the academic environment in Malaysia.

Following the library tour, POLIJE students delivered presentations showcasing their academic projects and innovations. The session served as a platform for knowledge exchange and demonstrated the students’ capabilities in presenting ideas confidently to an international audience. The presentations sparked engaging discussions and built a bridge of academic collaboration between the two institutions.

After a shared lunch, the students continued their agenda with a classroom session held in LG120. The session encouraged active participation, critical thinking, and cross-cultural learning as students discussed relevant academic topics with local counterparts. The day’s activities were designed not only to enhance academic knowledge but also to develop global competence among the participants.

To balance the intensive academic schedule, students joined a brisk walk program in the late afternoon, promoting wellness and informal interaction. The day concluded with a communal dinner where students enjoyed local cuisine, followed by a return to the guesthouse. The entire experience offered POLIJE students a valuable blend of academic exposure and cultural engagement, strengthening their international insight and personal growth.

This visit is part of the Student Mobility Program to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, in which 10 students from the English Study Program at POLIJE are participating. These students are engaged in academic activities alongside their peers from the English for Professional Communication Program at the Academy of Language Studies, UiTM. This collaborative learning environment enables the students to experience different academic approaches and develop their professional communication skills in an international context.

In addition to academic sessions, the 10 POLIJE students will also take part in a community service program outside the UiTM campus, working hand in hand with UiTM’s community engagement team. This initiative reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering social responsibility and real-world contributions, providing students with meaningful opportunities to apply their skills while contributing to local communities.
