POLYTECHNIC STATE OF JEMBER STRENGTHENS EDUCATION-INDUSTRY SYNERGY: FORGES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH PT EAST WEST SEED INDONESIA

Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening the synergy between vocational education and the industrial sector. Recently, Polije welcomed a courtesy visit from PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO), a leading multinational company in the horticultural seed production industry, to follow up on a strategic partnership plan for melon seed development.

This visit marked a significant milestone not only in institutional relations but also in opening up valuable opportunities for student skill development and enhancing the quality of education aligned with industry needs.

Saiful Anwar, S.TP., M.P., the Director of Polije, expressed his gratitude for the visit by an industry partner with a strong track record in modern agriculture development.

“Alhamdulillah, today we welcome our business partner from EWINDO, a multinational company in the agricultural sector. Their visit is to conduct a field site visit following the implementation of the collaboration between Polije and EWINDO,” stated Director Saiful Anwar.

He explained that the partnership would focus on managing and producing melon seeds on an approximately one-hectare plot jointly prepared.

“This initiative is part of our shared commitment to position Polije as a center of excellence in applied agriculture, serving as a real-world practice-based learning hub,” he added.

Furthermore, Director Anwar emphasized the importance of this collaboration as a strategic component of Polije’s educational approach that aligns with industrial demands.

“Our objective is to show our business partners that Polije is seriously preparing its students to meet industry requirements. Moving forward, we hope our graduates can be absorbed into industries that match the institution’s competencies,” he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Asep Subandi, General Manager of PT East West Seed Indonesia, expressed appreciation for Polije’s readiness and commitment to establishing a mutually beneficial partnership.

“I’m very thankful to Director Saiful Anwar of Polije. The preparation for our collaboration in melon seed production has been very thorough and impressive. Now we just need to execute it properly,” said Asep.

He highlighted that synergy between vocational institutions and industry is crucial to producing a workforce that is not only theoretically competent but also practically equipped to tackle field challenges. EWINDO, known for actively supporting agricultural education, welcomes Polije’s initiative to make this collaboration both a learning platform and a productive venture.

The visit also included an on-site inspection of Polije’s facilities, including the cultivation area prepared for this joint project. Both parties expressed optimism that the partnership would become a model that could be replicated across other vocational institutions.

With strong collaborative spirit, Polije and EWINDO look forward to a bright future in advancing Indonesian agriculture through innovation and strategic partnerships between education and industry. (rda)
