The Barabas Drum Corps Student Activity Unit of Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) recently achieved remarkable success at the 8th Jember Marching Festival, a national-level competition held at GOR PKPSO, Jember Regency, on February 15-16, 2025.
In this prestigious competition, which featured 68 teams from across Indonesia as well as contingents from the Philippines, Barabas D.C secured multiple prestigious awards. The team won 1st place in the Concert Marching Art category, 2nd place in the Marching Field Show category, and received various individual accolades, including The Best Field Commander of Concert Marching Art, The Best Field Commander of Marching Field Show, The Best Music Arrangements, and The Best Artistry.
With the theme “Paranormal,” the 60-member team delivered a stunning performance that captivated both the judges and the audience, excelling in both choreography and music. Their showcase of creativity, skill, and teamwork was a true testament to the dedication of every member, coach, and mentor of Barabas D.C. This success was also made possible by the unwavering support of the Polije leadership, who continuously provide encouragement and facilities to support the team’s development.
Rangga Fajar Ilhami, Chairman of the Barabas Drum Corps Student Activity Unit for the 2024 period, expressed his immense pride and gratitude for this extraordinary achievement.
“We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by every team member. This victory is the result of months of intensive training and a strong commitment to performing at our best on the national stage. We don’t just compete for awards, but also to showcase that Barabas D.C is a solid and high-quality team,” said Rangga with pride.
The Barabas D.C team also stated that this victory will serve as motivation for them to continue excelling in both the arts and sports fields. Rangga hopes that this achievement will inspire more Polije students to join the marching band team and train alongside them.
“We hope this accomplishment will encourage more Polije students to join us and train together. This is an opportunity to develop personal potential while also promoting arts and culture to a broader audience,” Rangga added.
The success of Barabas D.C at the 8th Jember Marching Festival is clear proof that Polije students possess extraordinary talents in both the arts and sports. The Student Activity Unit plans to continue nurturing talents and preparing for future prestigious competitions.
“This victory marks the beginning of our journey to further hone our skills and improve our quality. We aim to keep delivering top performances and achieving more prestigious awards in the future,” Rangga concluded.
This achievement undoubtedly brings great pride to Polije and further solidifies Barabas Drum Corps as one of the best marching band teams in Indonesia.
