POLIJE DELEGATION WAS APPOINTED AS CO-HOST OF THE INDONESIA – CHINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT.

The Indonesia – China Annual Conference on Vocational Education Cooperation and Development held at Grand Sahid Hotel, Jakarta (24-25/4) in commemoration of the two-year anniversary of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning Revitalization of Vocational Education and Vocational Training, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and the Indonesian Polytechnic Directors Forum, was an effort to improve vocational education and deepen bilateral relations.


This conference is a vital platform for increasing cooperation between vocational universities and industry in Indonesia and China based on the successful establishment of the Indonesia-China TVET Education and Industry Alliance (CITIEA) which has been established since September 15, 2023, in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region-People’s Republic of China.


The delegation from Polije was represented by Agung Wahyono, SP., M.Si., Ph.D., Vigo Dewangga, S.S., M.Pd., Rifqi Dwi Anggraeni, S. Sos, Dian Rizky, S.ST., M.Tr.P., who on this occasion was appointed as co-host. And Saiful Anwar, S.TP., MP, who is the Director of Polije, was an invited guest at the event.


The purpose of the alliance is to promote technical and vocational education and training (TVET) cooperation between Indonesia and China to strengthen the building of a joint Indonesia-China community for the future, as well as enhance resource sharing between colleges and enterprises in both countries. The alliance itself was attended by 61 colleges from China, 49 Polytechnics from Indonesia, and 18 companies from both countries and has resulted in eight pairs of colleges from China and Indonesia successfully signing cooperation agreements.


The event is also part of the ongoing efforts to support the Ministry of Education and Culture’s “Merdeka Belajar” program, which focuses on revitalizing vocational education and training in Indonesia. This conference is a crucial step in that effort, reflecting the long-standing educational cooperation between Indonesia and China with the aim of further expanding this partnership by increasing the number of collaborations between polytechnics in Indonesia and universities and industries in China.


During the conference, participants will discuss various aspects of vocational education cooperation, including the development of joint and double degree schemes, joint research, and academic exchange programs. The event will also explore ways to enhance faculty skills, develop collaborative research and publications, and support innovation in organizational processes and academic reputation enhancement. Furthermore, the conference will focus on academic internationalization to enhance the reputation of areas of excellence in Indonesian polytechnic campuses.


This gathering of industry and education leaders will not only strengthen the relationship between the two countries but also enhance the landscape of vocational education to produce graduates who are ready to meet the challenges of the global job market.
