2024 WFK IT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM CLOSING CEREMONY IN SOUTH KOREA: STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The Closing Ceremony of the 2024 WFK IT Volunteer Program took place at the Yongsan Peace & Park Convention on [exact date], celebrating a year of impactful international collaboration and innovation. Hosted by the National Digital Transformation Leading Agency (NIA), the event gathered representatives from distinguished partner institutions, including Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije), Indonesia. Polije was proudly represented by its Vice Director for Student Affairs, Wahyu Dewanto, S.Kom., MT., and Hafidh Firmansyah. 

The 2024 program highlighted a shared commitment to advancing global digital transformation through innovative IT education and cultural exchange. Volunteers from various countries engaged in projects aimed at addressing local challenges, including the development of smart technologies and digital inclusion strategies. These efforts were not only instrumental in enhancing technical skills but also in fostering mutual understanding and trust among participants and host communities. 

During the event, participants reflected on the program’s success in empowering communities through technology. Presentations showcased various achievements, such as: 

– Digital Innovation Projects: Collaborative IT solutions implemented in local communities, including initiatives led by Polije to promote Jember as a smart city. 

– Cultural Exchange Activities: Strengthening international bonds through shared experiences in language, arts, and traditional practices. 

– Education for Empowerment: Training programs on AI, web development, and programming tailored to community needs. 

In his address, Mr. Wahyu Dewanto emphasized the significance of the program in building sustainable partnerships and improving educational outcomes. “This collaboration is not just about technology; it is about people. Through these programs, we create a bridge that connects nations and nurtures a spirit of global citizenship,” he remarked.  

In addition to celebrating the achievements of the past year, the ceremony served as a platform for discussing future initiatives. Key topics included: Scaling Up; Plans to expand the WFK IT Volunteer Program’s reach and impact in 2025.  Sustained Operations; Continued development and utilization of Information Access Centers (IACs) to support digital education and Strengthening Partnerships; Encouraging collaboration between institutions to address emerging challenges in the digital era. 

The WFK IT Volunteer Program, supported by NIA, underscores the importance of collaboration in addressing technological and educational disparities. By connecting skilled volunteers with local communities, the program fosters innovation and provides valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange. 

Politeknik Negeri Jember expressed its pride in being part of this global initiative. “We are honored to represent Indonesia and to contribute to this meaningful effort. It is our hope that this program will continue to inspire and empower communities worldwide,” stated Mr. Wahyu.
